Biography

Rui Pedro Henriques has an MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering by the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon. During the academic course he was interested in the area of collaborative networks, having subsequently worked on energy optimization of buildings and electric bill, area in which he still works. In other areas he actively participates in the development of web platforms leveraging on interoperability mechanisms and network administration. He has also worked on air quality monitoring where he managed the team and actively developed the Web core and also modules for the use and dissemination of the results of the atmospheric dispersion model. He has also worked in the research and development of solutions for the consolidation and optimization of the supply chain of biomass using GIS information. Since long he has dedicated particular interest to the monitoring of environmental and energy variables associated to buildings, from the implementation of the solution for the sensors and gateway of data to the platform of data collection and analysis with the use of spatial and temporal databases. In this area he has also done the co-orientation of some dissertations to obtain master’s degree. More recently he is also involved in the development of LPWAN networks, namely LoRaWAN, for large scale sensor networks deployment and ensuing BigData analysis.
