Marcos António Nogueira is a seasoned expert on European Affairs, with interest in areas of territorial innovation and sustainability, and Smart Cities. Based in Brussels, Marcos have been active on supporting a number of European initiatives, consortia and projects aggregating public authorities from diverse member states. Marcos holds a Master on Energy and as researcher authored physically-based multidimension mathematical models for complex industrial and urban systems. Marcos authored numerous publications, held higher education chairs, organised several significant events and training actions and intervened in a number of partnerships that delivered added-value innovative solutions used by global industrial groups and by European public authorities, with special emphasis to Portugal, his home country. Marcos co-founded, and co-leads, IrRADIARE Science for Evolution, and acted as executive advisor of MédioTejo21 since its foundation. On the public sphere Marcos led university movements and served as member of Ministerial Cabinet. Presently, Marcos Nogueira heads Alentejo region EU office in Brussels and leads SmarTomorrow consortium among other responsibilities.
