Kimmo Viljamaa works as a Business Development Manager at the City of Vantaa, Finland. His main responsibilities are the development and coordination of business support instruments for enterprises, particularly SMEs, as well as the coordination of economic development projects. He also participates actively in economic development policy in the Helsinki metropolitan region in Finland.
During his career, he has participated in several Finnish and international research and development projects in the field of local economic development, innovation policy and evaluation. He has also worked as a policy analyst in several EU research and innovation policy and economic development studies. He has worked as a country correspondent in the European Union ERAWATCH information service on national research policies, METRIS study on Social Sciences and Humanities research as well as in the Regional Innovation Monitoring network. He has also worked with the European Parliament ITRE committee on studies related to research and innovation matters.
